Since going to Africa in 1969 Mike has spent his professional life filming wildlife documentaries on five continents, all the while pursuing his love of still photography. His film credits, which number more than twenty-five, have aired worldwide on networks and stations including British Independent Television, BBC, PBS, and Maryland Public Television. After spending most of the first fifteen years of his professional life in Europe, Asia and Africa, Mike was dispatched to Texas by Survival Anglia, Ltd., a British-based firm, to investigate and film a documentary on the Ixtoc oil spill on the Gulf Coast. Thus began his cinematographic journey in the United States. In Florida he filmed Space for Wildlife at the Kennedy Space Center. Next stop was Maryland, where he made a documentary, Chesapeake: Great Shellfish Bay, examining the wildlife and ecological health of the Bay.
Fascinated by the Bay and enamored with the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Mike decided to establish his base of operation in this rural, agricultural area. He designed and built his own home on the Choptank River and continues to advocate passionately for the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. He and his wife, Mary Framptom-Price, now split their time between homes in Maryland and Stonington, Maine.
His images, which have been exhibited in numerous locations and published in a variety of media, are a powerful testimony to his love and respect for the natural world.
