Skipjacks Becalmed

The Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay captivated Mike on his first encounter more than 20 years ago. In 1983-84 he directed and filmed the documentary, Chesapeake: Great Shellfish Bay, which unveiled to him both the treasures and troubles of this fabled estuary. His photographs include hundreds of images shot in tandem with his film projects and are evocative invitations to the dance of light on water and wings on air that mirror the Bay's soul. A resident of Maryland's Eastern Shore, Mike continues to be a committed advocate for the restoration of the Bay's health.
